Went to see consultant today. He seems to think things are going well. I expressed my disappointment and worry that I cannot read. I feel like I am a child reading Janet & John books slowly! He tested me with some small writing and put reading lenses in the contraption and that seemed to be fine. He suggested just getting some +1s from the shop for now but not to get any prescription readers as he said it will settle down over the next few weeks. I may still need some reading glasses but the final result wont be known until then. I went away still not feeling very confident but I was pleased that I passed the driving test line again which was good. He will see me again on 5th Aug.
Tues 8thJuly (Day 18)
Things feel slightly improved today. For the past few days it has felt like there has been something in my left eye. Difficulty is that I cant see in the mirror to check it out! I spoke to someone else who had this treatment a few years ago and she has given me much more confidence. She said that she couldnt read even with glasses for the first two weeks and then she could read with glasses - gradually this improved until her final prescription for reading was reached.
I am sure that is why I have not felt so obsessed about it all today and the feeling that something is in my eye has gone today too. Great!

Hi maybe the eyes are more susceptible to scratching soon after laser surgery ? like new skin over a wound, it takes a while to become as tough as the old skin.
it doesnt take that much to scratch surface of the eye - like rubbing usual grime (an eye lash or angel dust !) - but you dont normally notice it - unless eg put a contact lens on top of it. It takes a few days to heal , so maybe thats what it was ? Only guessing !
